Carmen's scouts the Vegan Sweets Conference 2018

Over the weekend we made it out to the Vegan Sweets Conference (2018) in Long Beach, CA. These bakers are so creative in many ways. We got to vote for our favorite vegan and some (gluten free) cookies. We loved Planet Cookies based in San Diego. Sally was just one of our favorite bakers- her planet cookies looked like orbs. We experienced huge chunks of chocolate chips that mocked a taking over the "planet" effect on the surface of the cookies. Very creative. Locally, Mama Bear's brownies were amazing- even the "I only eat cookies" toddlers loved them and Cheryl was so refreshing- the way she spoke about her ingredients with light "sorcery" was inspiring and made me want to cook at home again. Vegan Rob's had a unique presence offering vegan beet, brussel sprout and cauliflower (among other) veggie chips- a great addition to our toddler menu. Watching Gianna on sugar made me smile when everything else lately feels so hard. (Future cast a wired Gianna at 11:00PM still not in bed)..and then the balance is restored. As an adult, it's hard to focus on what's fun for me and actually making time for it. Lately, working it in has been a priority and reflecting on being in the moment has made it so much easier to feel like I deserve to be deeply nourished.
